Mama bear, a friend of ours, and I decided to venture out and hit the chilly back country roads of Clayton to Rose Hill for a day trip to Duplin Winery, the oldest winery in North Carolina for wine tasting and onsite bistro food.

Established in 1975, Duplin Winery has grown to manufacture over 450,000 cases of wine a year, knocking back 5,000 tons of grapes every season, and distributed to all states (except 2). If you live in the area, or most of the United States, you've seen the lighthouse bottle logo at some point.

They have a really great YouTube video explaining their history here:

When, not if, you decide to take this trip, either by motorcycle or four wheeled vehicle, we recommend keeping off the highway to enjoy the scenic country route this smaller day trip slams in your face. Adding that extra twenty or thirty minutes gives you an opportunity to see the smaller southern towns that dot our pretty cool state.

Thanks!
